The Speed European circuit returned to action on Sunday, 17 August, in St. Pölten, Austria, just one day after a Youth event took place at the same venue.
SPAIN DOMINATES THE WOMEN’S EVENT
In the women’s final, Spain’s Leslie Adriana Romero Pérez returned to the podium and claimed the top spot with an impressive time of 7.11 seconds, securing the win over France’s Louise Fontaine, who slipped and finished in at 10.90.
Spain took home another medal with Carla Martínez Vidal narrowly beating Ukraine’s Polina Khalkevych in the bronze medal race – 7.36 for the Spaniard, 7.38 for the Ukrainian.
HOME GOLD FOR AMON
Austrian climber Kevin Amon thrilled the home crowd by clinching gold in a very close men’s final: he stopped the clock at 5.27, just 0.01 seconds ahead of France’s Guillaume Moro, who had to settle for silver. The bronze medal went to Pierre Rebreyend of France, who edged out Marcin Dzienski of Poland in another close race: 5.41 for Rebrayend, 5.47 for Dzienski.
